Lord Karan Bilimoria, CEO, Cobra beer

Lord Bilimoria is an entrepreneur and a life peer. He is best known as the founder and chief executive of Cobra Beer. He founded Cobra Beer in 1989, aiming to create a less gassy lager more suitable for drinking with curry and other foods. In 1999, the company diversified into wine, and as of 2006 has a turnover of £96 million at retail value. He received the CBE in 2004 for services to business.



Anuj Chande, Partner & Head of South Asia Group, Grant Thornton

Anuj is a corporate finance partner at Grant Thornton with over 29 years professional and commercial experience. At Grant Thornton Anuj leads the South Asia Group, set up by him in 1991, to serve Asian owned businesses both in the UK and those investing from the Indian subcontinent and elsewhere. His clients include those in food, drink, media, hotels, technology and property. Over the years he has advised on both debt and equity fund raisings for his Asian clients.

He has been recognised as one of Britain's 100 most influential Asians for the second year running on the Asian Power 100 list which is compiled by Carter Andersen in association with the Bank of Scotland. In addition, he was a finalist for the Best Business Adviser in 1999 and 2000 CBI Real Business Growing Business Awards. In 2004 he won the Lloyds TSB Professional Excellence Award at the Asian Jewel Awards. He has been a specialist adviser on ethnic businesses to the West London Business Link and is a Board member of the London Employers Coalition. He is a mentor for the Prince's Trust charity, a police mentor in the Joint Police Mentoring Initiative with London First and, a Board member for the Tamasha Theatre Company, an Asian Charity, and also the Embassy of Man Charity.



Dr. Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj Reading University, entrepreneurship and family business

Shaheena is a co-founder of the International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise (ICE). ICE provides support for business start up, growth and family business succession. ICE works with a range of organisations, including those providing business support by combining rigorous innovative academic thinking with issues in a practical application. Dr Janjuha-Jivraj is a senior lecturer in entrepreneurship at Reading Business School, Reading University. Her area of expertise is management and succession in family firms in the UK and abroad. She has published a book entitled Succession in South Asian Family Firms, published by Palgrace MacMillan.
