This is the second of a regular series of papers which analyses the healthcare property and business sector, with particular emphasis on care for the elderly. The analysis is based on actual data used to support valuations, and covers just under 1,000 records across a range of different care providers ranging from corporates down to single home units.
The research shows how costs are rising across all types of care homes, as payroll costs in particular have increased significantly. However, these rising costs have been more than matched by rising revenues, on the back of improving fee levels. This has resulted in an increase in profit margins. Rising profitability and business values will continue to attract further corporate and investor activity in the sector.
