SPEAKERS

Property
Walter Boettcher joined Colliers CRE Research and Forecasting team In August 2007, after 6 years in a private property development company where he dealt with all aspects of small to medium scale property development, financing and management. He returned to Colliers "As I find the company has a very flat 'hands on' hierarchy and all business teams are very approachable. In short, with over 800 people, it is the largest 'small company' I have ever worked."

Wealth Management
Nick Rothwell has over 20 years experience in the trust and offshore industry. He has been working for Bank Julius Baer & Co. in Zurich for 5 years, advising clients wishing to create trust and corporate structures. Prior to this, he worked in both the Cayman Islands, and the Channel Islands in a trust management and administration capacity for Deutsche Bank, CIBC and Deloitte & Touche. Nick is qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Tax
John Loebl, Partner. Grant Thornton Manchester

John is Head of Tax in the Manchester office of Grant Thornton and has over 18 years experience in advising on tax matters. John qualified as a Chartered Accountant and is also a Chartered Tax Adviser. His client base is varied including some smaller plcs, UK corporates, private clients and family trusts (both UK and overseas). However his principal area of focus is in advising entrepreneurial clients, the majority of which are non-UK domiciled for tax purposes. John has advised clients on offshore property ownership structures, incorporation of UK property portfolios into offshore companies to secure tax protection, captive insurance arrangements through protected cell companies and overseas image rights arrangements. He also advises on capital gains tax and income tax mitigation and on Inheritance Tax planning. John's background in auditing, accountancy and corporate tax allows him to consider a wide range of potential issues when advising clients on their affairs; how advice will impact on a company's tax position; how the transaction will be disclosed in the accounts and other general commercial implications.

John is a member of Grant Thornton's National Tax Management Board and is also heavily involved in developing a new Training and Development structure for tax in the firm. He lectures extensively, including teaching a tax planning course for Grant Thornton's senior tax advisers.
